Quick Overview
The original Droid Incredible was popular with consumer. Repair Techs will tell you it is one of the easier phones to teardown and navigate–if you are into that sort of thing. The Droid Incredible 2 did not disappoint because the disassembly process was again clean and a relatively simple repair. Repairs are never easy, especially for beginners. But they are not difficult either, they all are just a ‘pain in the neck” and easy to run into problems if not careful (or lacking in correct tools). The Droid Incredible and Incredible 2 require patience but much less than most. If you happen to crack your screen or break the LCD, l the replacement parts for the Incredible 2 are easy to find and likely to drop in prices soon enough, along with the phone itself.
Overall, this a good phone to own if you want to function through your Verizon contract.
For the sake of headlines we will rate this the easiest repair…..in recent history!

STEP 1:
Remove the back case. It pops right off on top.
Next remove the 1450mAh battery. This battery will give you a full day of life, much better than other HTC phones such as the Thunderbolt and Evo 4G.
Remove the 16 gb MicroSD card and the SIM card.
Now remove the 7 screws in highlighted in red. Amazingly there are only 9 screws that need removed, according to our math department.
Step 2:
Using a safety pry tool, pop off the back plastic casing around the edge at the clips. It pops off about as smoothly as one can expect.
Step 3.
You will see clear yellow tape on top of a couple connectors, carefully remove that tap and release the trap doors. You can now gently pull out the ribbons (arrows).
It is easy to see the back camera, MicroSD card we forgot to remove, the audio jack and more.
Finally, remove the last two screws on top of top in red.
Step 4.
Gently pull away the motherboard from front assembly. There is a connector strip that will need to be gently removed. Do so carefully.
On the let you can see the usb part, which can also be removed if you heart desires. The metal around it easily pops off so don’t lose it. The ribbons will at some point need to be released for the camera(s) as needed. On the left you can see the USB is bouncy and ribbon can be removed.
Up Close:
Outlined in yellow is the SnapDragon 8655, 1Ghz— Qualcomm’s Snapdragon MSM8655.
The Teardown:
We did not remove the glass and lcd at this point but it is not difficult. Heat the glass with a heat gun and use the safety pry to help ease it out.
An LCD replacement and screen repair are about as easy as you could hope for if you are trying to prevent gray hair. Although, if you are replacing the digitizer it is very easy to damage the LCD. If you are attempting to do this yourself, you may was to buy the preassembled together. Reassembly is typically more difficult than tearing something down. Reference these pictures and take some of your own to make it easier.
